The Mercedes-AMG GT73 4-door will be equipped with a plug-in hybrid version. With an expected power of 800 horsepower, this GT73 will be equipped with a V8 with an electric generator.
Mercedes had already confirmed that its 4-door coupe sedan would soon receive an electrified version. It will be called Mercedes-AMG GT73 and will be an alternative to the EQS electric sedan . Today, the manufacturer details the operation of its plug-in hybrid engine.
The base of the power unit of the rechargeable hydride sedan will also remain the same as on the thermal version. It is the 4-liter twin-turbo V8 that will send power to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission. The rear axle will be equipped with a permanent magnet motor. This will be integrated into a power module which will incorporate a locked rear differential and a battery pack. AMG has also developed the electric unit in partnership with Mercedes F1. The set should develop 800 horsepower.
The electric motor thus develops 95 horsepower, but a boost mode can make it briefly reach 203 horsepower. The electric unit sends power to the rear wheels but can direct it to the front axle to correct loss of grip. The objective of this Mercedes-AMG GT73 4-door will be to fight against the Porsche Panamera S e-Hybrid .
