This vehicle will arrive on the market next August . For the moment, the manufacturer has not really given more information, but still promises a full presentation on April 15. We will discover the vehicle in its final form, but also its price as well as its performance. According to Automobile Propre, the car would be equipped with a battery of up to 108 kWh, which promises a theoretical range of 700 kilometers. A great argument to seduce the consumer.
The EQS will be the first 100% electric sedan and will have to launch the manufacturer in the segment in addition to its EQC SUV. The vehicle had already been spotted on German roads , giving us a taste of its design. It is derived from the Concept Vision EQS concept car , presented in Frankfurt in 2019.
MERCEDES WANTS TO CHALLENGE TESLA
One of the major challenges of this electric sedan market is of course the price. On this point, Tesla, which is currently the king of the segment, is making efforts to prepare for the massive arrival of competitors. The Model 3 for example went to less than 40,000 euros for some models. Elon Musk also plans to market a vehicle for just 25,000 euros in the next few years, thanks to new battery technology that makes them less expensive to manufacture. Some analysts are even already seeing electric cars at 5,000 euros landing in dealerships soon.
Mercedes therefore has a long way to go to seduce consumers, but should nevertheless remain in the high-end market, its long-standing segment. It remains to be seen whether the EQS will be expensive, or very expensive. Other German manufacturers have also embarked on the electric market, such as Audi or Porsche.
