Xiaomi
has just announced the arrival of its own electric car.
Ahead of Apple, the Chinese group has confirmed the development of a range of connected electric vehicles. Xiaomi will invest $ 10 billion over the next 10 years to complete its project.

In recent weeks, several leaks have come about the arrival of an electric car signed Xiaomi . Called Mi Car, this electric car would enter the development phase in April 2021 . Shortly before the March 29 announcement conference, Xiaomi confirmed the news in a press release.

“Xiaomi hopes to deliver quality smart electric vehicles to enable everyone in the world to enjoy smart life anytime, anywhere,” Xiaomi said in the statement. A wholly owned subsidiary has just been set up to oversee the development of the project. Xiaomi's general manager, Lei Jun, will be the head of this subsidiary.

XIAOMI TAKES ON TESLA AND WORKS ON ITS OWN ELECTRIC CARS

Determined to impose itself on the market against tenors like Tesla, Xiaomi will pay an initial investment of $ 1.5 billion . In the next 10 years, the Chinese manufacturer will spend up to $ 10 billion. For now, Xiaomi has not said more about the design, strengths or specifics of its future cars.

The latest news is that Xiaomi is reportedly developing an electric SUV . With this in mind, the manufacturer has reportedly partnered with Great Wall Motor Co, the main manufacturer of SUVs in China. The group sold 1.1 million vehicles in the mode last year under different brands.
