Expected at the end of 2021, the new generation of the compact Opel Astra should borrow the hybrid configurations in 180 and 225 hp of its cousin Peugeot 308.
Thanks to its absorption by PSA in 2017, Opel took advantage of hybrid and electric technologies for its cars. The Corsa-e uses the Peugeot e-208 base, and the Opel Grandland X Hybrid is close to the 3008. Yet a mainstay model in the range has yet to benefit.
The Opel Astra, whose current generation dates back to 2015, will have a replacement. The new version arrives at the end of 2021, confirms Stellantis in a press release. In the latter, the group only talks about electrified novelties. As a result, we know that the compact sedan will have at least one plug-in hybrid version.
Like the Corsa with the 208, the Astra is closely derived from the new Peugeot 308 , based on EMP2 V3. If it will have its own style, it would take the Sochalienne hybrid engines in 180 and 225 horsepower.
Like the Peugeot 308 , the new Opel Astra could also benefit from a 100% electric version. An Opel Astra-e which could inherit the new eVMP platform, the launch of which is scheduled for 2023.
