Peugeot 3008

Peugeot launched the 3008 in October 2016. Since then, 41,000 units of the 4.45-meter-long SUV have been sold. Customers chose far more than 80 percent of the higher-quality equipment. The plug-in hybrid versions, which have only been in existence for a few months and are now in greater demand than diesel engines, are also on the rise.

The entry into the world of lions with the double heart is almost 43,000 euros. The customer then gets the combination of a 181 hp 1.6-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor that produces 110 hp.

The E-machine is coupled to the new eight-speed automatic, which brings the combined system power of 225 hp to the front axle. The version is expected to reach a purely electric range of up to 56 kilometers.

But there is a second variant: the French have now put two electric motors in the side of the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4 (just under 50,000 euros). The front electric machine is coupled to the eight-stage automatic and achieves a power of 110 hp. The developers connected the second electric unit with an output of 112 hp to the rear powertrain. According to Peugeot, the all-wheel-drive can cover up to 59 kilometres (WLTP standard) purely electrically.

Loading space unchanged

Both plug-in hybrids are combined with a multi-steer rear axle, which ensures high rolling comfort. This is particularly noticeable on battered roads. However, curves can also be taken quite fast. Both versions of the SUV convince with strong start and through as well as quiet working noises.

Despite the additional electric motor, the trunk volume above the loading floor (520 to 1,482 liters) remains unchanged compared to the 3008 with an internal combustion engine.

The standard equipment of the two hybrids (Allure in the base, Allure Pack for the stronger system) includes, among others, automatic climate control, digital instrument cluster, cruise control, audio system, navigation system, 18-inch aluminium wheels, 10-inch touchscreen, lane-keeping, high-beam and active death angle assistants as well as LED headlights and taillights. In the Allure Pack, the back of the passenger seat is foldable, the roof rail is made of aluminium and there is LED ambient lighting.

Fresh face

Visually, the renewal of the 3008 can be seen on the face. The frameless radiator grille is pulled under the light signatures and connects all elements with each other. The new bumpers have black shiny air intakes. In any case, new customers have to get involved in an operating system that requires at least a certain period of acclimatization time in order to control the corresponding functions safely and quickly.
