New safety car for the Formula E World Championship, this Mini Pacesetter offers a glimpse of the sporting variations of the new electric Mini.
Spectacular but only hybrid, the BMW i8 contradicted the Formula E electric racing championship . Safety car (or safety car ), the German racing car gives way to a new model of the group, more in line with the 100% electric philosophy of competition.
BMW has chosen to design a special Mini. Called Pacesetter, it is designed on the basis of the Electric (formerly Cooper SE) from which it uses the 135 kW and 280 Nm engine. Lightened by 130 kilos, it performs 0-100 km / h at 6.7 seconds, against 7.3 s for the original. The covers have also been improved. The 80-120 km / h is achieved in 4.3 seconds against 4.6 seconds previously.
On the design side, the extroverted set with orange accents hides wide tracks, adapted to Formula E tires. Adjustable damping, specific brakes are part of the lot, as is the 3D printed rear wing. Some parts like the side skirts are even made from recycled carbon fiber.
A taste of an electric Mini JCW?
This is the second time that Mini has mentioned a high performance version. Mid-2020, a camouflaged electric prototype showed the interest of a more sporty model. Here, it is a confirmation, a letter of intent for the future.
Precisely, the future generation of 2023 is pointing the tip of its nose in photos. We can easily imagine an electric Mini JCW exceeding 150 kW.
In the meantime, the Mini Pacesetter will make its first laps in Rome on April 10.
