The brand's first electric sports car, the Volkswagen ID.4 GTX combines 299 horsepower and promises nearly 500 kilometers of range.
After GTI, GTE, and GTD, Volkswagen is extending its sports label to electric. Called GTX, it is for the first time integrated on board the electric SUV ID.4.
A specific aesthetic
In terms of styling, this ID.4 GTX adds a few details specific to the base version of the ID.4. On the outside, we note the presence of specific 21-inch rims and work on the front bumper which incorporates a specific light signature. There are also three small LEDs placed at the level of the air grilles, at each end of the bumper. The rear optics have also been reworked, with the brake lights forming an “X” when the brake pedal is activated.
GTX markings are also clearly visible. They are found on the fenders but also on the back, directly under the logo.
Inside, the changes essentially boil down to the integration of a new color palette. While the red stitching on the seats underline the sporty side of the model, the “X-Blue” inserts on the dashboard and the storm doors recall its “green” side. Present on the steering wheel, the rocker panels and the backrests of the front seats, the GTX logo is once again clearly visible.
299 horsepower under the hood
Unsurprisingly, this Volkswagen ID.4 GTX inherits a good part of the components on board the other models from the group's MEB electric platform .
We thus find an identical configuration to that of the Audi Q4 e-tron 40 Quattro with an all-wheel drive system composed of two engines. Distributed on each axle, they accumulate 220 kW of power (299 hp) and 460 Nm of torque. What offer 180 km / h of maximum speed and complete the 0 to 100 km / h in 6.2 seconds. This is correct but it remains worse than a Tesla Model Y which, in its Performance version, provides exercise in only 3.7 seconds.
Totaling 82 kWh of energy capacity, including 77 useful, the battery promises up to 480 km of autonomy in the WLTP cycle. It is associated with an on-board charger of 11 kW. On the fast charge side, this ID.4 GTX is limited to 125 kW via the Combo standard. It doesn't seem like much compared to other models on the market but enough to recover 80% of energy after 30 minutes of charging.
