After winning the Supersport 600 World Championship, Yamaha will suspend production of the approved R6 for the new year and focus on a new supersports car.
It will be called Yamaha R6 Race, a track bike not approved and will be available at yamaha local dealers from January 2021.
After twenty years of production, the three diapasons of the historic Yamaha brand, have decided not to adapt their Supersport 600 to the Euro 5 regulations in force since January 2021.
The engine is the 599 cc DOHC 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled and equipped with titanium valves.
The Air intake System allows the new Yamaha R6 Race to directly use the outdoor air provided by the large air intake with an advantage in favor of the power delivered.
The Deltabox aluminum frame is the result of years of development in competitions, with the magnesium underwire optimizing front weight balance, while high specifications of KYB front forks and KYB rear suspension produce precise and aggressive handling when cornering. It also includes traction control, D-mode and Yamaha ride-by-wire accelerator with control chip for maximum responsiveness.
For the most demanding, it will be possible to purchase an R6 GYTR kit, with special parts and multiple features, which improve performance and trim.
In order for all the power to be well managed, the Akrapovic all-titanium race exhaust takes over, specially designed to maximize engine power, greatly reducing the overall weight.
WSS race plexi, easy to assemble, minimizes resistance and improves straight speed as well as handling. Along with increased power, the brakes are also equipped with stainless steel tubes, for direct response and a better feeling during deceleration.
The GYTR ABS emulator allows the ABS pump to be disassembled for further weight reduction.
To meet FIM's safety needs, some extra protections have been fitted, such as front brake lever and rear crown lever protection, while rear paddock stand hooks make rear wheel disassembly more efficient.
