Audi e-tron

The signature of the four hoops incorporates new equipment into its Audi e-tron electric family for Spain. A more powerful optional charger and a new capacitive steering wheel are on the menu. Both can now be selected and will be incorporated into the models by the end of 2020.

Since reaching the market, the Audi e-tron has incorporated improvements such as increasing its range to 436 km. In addition, the range has been expanded with the arrival of the Sportback e-tron and the most featureal versions of both the e-tron S and e-tron S Sportback that reach 503 hp and the 973 Nm thanks to its three electric motors.

A complete family that, by 2021, allows to select new optional equipment to improve its load capacity, as has already happened for example with the Taycan, and comfort on the road.

Recharges up to 22 kW

Audi e-trons will now be able to select an onboard charger that doubles the power offered so far, reaching 22 kW. This allows faster charging in alternating current and can now be optionally incorporated into the e-tron 55 and e-tron 55 Sportback variants.

For its part, the access options, Audi e-tron 50 and Audi e-tron 50 Sportback will also offer it in mid-2021. As for the Mode 3 cable that all models are standard, it has been adapted to withstand the highest recharge power at 22 kW.

Similarly, Audi has made adjustments to the connect load management system for 22 kW recharging, which can be used both at home and in public chargers.

For optimal use of the connect system, Audi recommends the use of a three-phase 400-volt plug. The firm promises that, with a proper home installation, and depending on the equipped battery, the e-trons can be fully charged in about five hours.

It should be remembered that Audi electrics, as with other electrified ones, can manage the recharge at home according to their contracted rate, programming to charge their batteries in valley hours.

In addition, it also allows to select only the remaining power used by the home, thus avoiding overloads in the electrical installation or taking the energy of solar panels in those houses that have installed a photovoltaic system, and that can also be programmed according to the hours of sunshine.

New touch-sensitive steering wheel

Beyond the latest developments in the charging system, Audi also updates the steering wheels available for the e-tron range. Thus, we find a new capacitive steering wheel that works in conjunction with the adaptive cruiser.

Now, giving a slight touch to the ring of this steering wheel, the driver will be able to know its lane maintenance systemis active, as well as guided longitudinally.

As with this technology, intelligent cruise control is able to automatically adapt to the vehicle preceding the gear, maintaining an optimal distance that can be adjusted.
